Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of PetCompass and related ProcyonPet services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. The Service

PetCompass helps pet owners prepare for emergencies: find clinics, organize pet and care information, generate handoff summaries, and optionally sync data through Guardian cloud features and QR pet tags. The Service is informational only and is not veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. See our Medical Disclaimer.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create a Guardian account or subscribe. You are responsible for information you store and share about pets and contacts.

3. Accounts & accuracy

You agree to provide accurate contact information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Clinic hours, phone numbers, and emergency availability change — verify with the clinic before traveling.

4. Subscriptions & billing

Paid features (for example, Guardian cloud sync or pet tags) may require a subscription. Fees, billing cycles, and renewal terms are shown at purchase. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy. We may change pricing with notice where required by law.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including: spamming clinics, scraping data at scale, attempting unauthorized access, uploading unlawful content, or using the Service in ways that harm people or animals.

6. Text messaging program

By providing your mobile number and tapping “Text me a sign-in code,” checking an SMS consent box, or otherwise opting in, you agree to receive automated text messages from PetCompass at the number you provide.

Program purpose

Message frequency & charges

Message frequency varies based on your use (typically low — sign-in codes and occasional alerts). Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

7. Handoff pages & third parties

When you share a handoff link or email, recipients may view the information you chose to include. We are not responsible for how clinics or other third parties use that information.

8. Intellectual property

PetCompass content, branding, and software are owned by Astrolabe Apps or licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial pet emergency preparedness.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE CLINIC AVAILABILITY, ACCURACY OF THIRD-PARTY DATA, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ASTROLABE APPS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR EMERGENCY OUTCOMES, LOST DATA, OR RELIANCE ON CLINIC LISTINGS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR USD $100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Astrolabe Apps against claims arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations or risk to the Service. Provisions that should survive termination (disclaimers, limits, dispute terms) will survive.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections apply in your jurisdiction.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
